I am a man of three quests:

Code

I love the internet, and I am passionate about building software on it for and with anyone who is interested. I love making people's lives better, more fun, and less painful. I love innovative and clever technologies, and I also love beautiful and intuitive user interfaces. I also love music software and am working on software that interfaces with DAWs, like file-management systems, a music platform for musicians, and novel convolution-based audio plugins.

Music

Music is basically part of the fundamental architecture of my brain. I love to improvise it with anyone who is interested. I love to produce it. I love owning every aspect of the production of a song. I love songwriting. I love folk music like Fleet Foxes, Joni Mitchell, and Nick Drake, and I am enamored with my acoustic guitar. I love electronic music like Pretty Lights, Porter Robinson, and HOME. I love the fine details of sound design and interesting textures in music. I love rock music—everything from the Beatles to Causa Sui, Khruangbin, Crumb, Tame Impala, and the Arctic Monkeys. I want to create a fusion genre that is folk, rock, and electronic; that blends composed and improvised music; and that is danceable while still deeply introspective and personal. I also think things like genre and scale—really, any constraint—are optional. I am very open to collaborating with anyone who is interested.

I am eager to meet people and find others that I can work with, play with, dance with, build with, adventure with, and more. I am excited to engineer a future full of fun and joy for everyone. This quest somewhat depends on the other two: code and music are both ways to create that future together.

Work

Left brain meets right brain: I love writing software because it’s actually useful, it’s not just an academic exercise for me.

I’ve written software for local IT, software, music technology, and real estate businesses, for international fashion brands, and just for the pleasure of making things I find useful and interesting.

A common thread for me is making people’s lives easier.

Whether that’s writing code that solves business problems, creating a new music tool to assist in songwriting / music production, or connecting like-minded people and seeing what awesome things we can do together, I get real joy from making the world a better place, even if just a little bit.

TypeScript: Used for structured front-end tools and app experiments, including prompt, budget, MIDI, calculator, and package projects.
JavaScript: Used for browser behavior, small automation scripts, Express experiments, Google Apps Script utilities, and interactive music tools.
Browser extensions: Used for workflow tools that live inside the browser, including capturing, organizing, and reusing prompts without leaving the page.
HTML & CSS: Used for hand-built interfaces, responsive layouts, landing pages, portfolio work, and small business sites.
Go: Used for command-line and backend-leaning experiments, including image-to-ASCII conversion and Mattermost plugin work.
Node.js, Express & APIs: Used for server basics, deployable endpoints, API examples, and chord-function tools that expose music data through code.
Shell scripting: Used for local utilities, setup scripts, and workflow helpers like transcription-related command-line scripts.
React, Vue & Vite: Used to turn product ideas into testable front-end prototypes quickly, especially when forms, state, and repeated UI patterns need to stay organized.
Postgres: Used when an app needs reliable records, relationships, and queries instead of temporary browser-only state.
C, C++, Assembly & Scheme: Used to build a stronger mental model for memory, performance, recursion, and how higher-level tools behave underneath the abstraction.
Python 3: Used for quick automation and file-processing scripts that make cleanup, setup, and repeatable local workflows less manual.
WordPress: Built and adjusted content-managed sites so non-developers can update pages, menus, and copy without needing a developer for every small change.
